It may feel like a long time coming to many. Replacing Hefko Pool was on many people’s list for over a decade. Now, in 2021, that project can be checked off the list. Vandehey Waters is opening soon and will bring a new era of summer memories to be formed.
This project felt like it almost stopped as soon as it started. Fundraising began in late summer 2019 and then the pandemic put everything to a stop in early 2020. The fundraising committee decided to put fundraising efforts on hold. But that didn’t stop the community. The momentum was already in place. The community got a taste of what a new pool…a new aquatic center could look like. They knew this would benefit our community, bring people together, and bring people to Marshfield.
As of July 2021 we are just shy of our goal of 3.5 million dollars raised. The community stepped up. Whether it was a $50 donation or a $5,000 donation, every dollar counts towards the success of this project and the fundraising committee is grateful.
